Invertebrate Paleontology is the study of invertebrate animals of the geologic past. Invertebrates constitute about 95% of all living animal species; and, although they share the common negative characteristic of the lack of a backbone or vertebral column (cf. Chordata), they show very great variation in other invertebrates include such widely different forms as the sponges. Harry Whittington is acknowledged as one of the key workers in invertebrate paleontology, and his decades of work with trilobites and other invertebrates (he described the weird wonders of the Burgess Shales, such as Opabinia and Anomalocaris) reflects his passion for these primordial creatures. In this book, he presents a summary of what. A former Curator of Invertebrate Paleontology at New York's famed American Museum of Natural History, Eldredge has remained at the hub of evolutionary discussion and debate (yes, unfortunately, there is still debate about evolution), a topic he presents with aplomb, innovation and insight throughout his latest book, Eternal Ephemera: Adaptation.

After the popular books I'd been reading on invertebrate paleontology, I decided to go to a textbook for a more complete picture. Like most textbooks, it's dull but thorough, at least for the groups with the best fossil record.

I was surprised by the omission of insects, on the grounds that someone else's book had covered them thoroughly enough/5. The present student book is prepared based on the syllabus of the “Principals of Invertebrate Paleontology” course (Geo ) of the Geology and Geophysics Department, College of Science, King.

Invertebrate paleontology, the subject of the present work, is concerned with fossil invertebrate animals. This work deals with the invertebrate life of the past, as that life is revealed in the fossil record, and is so organized that it can be used for either undergraduate of graduate instruction.
